We encourage all students to participate in activities that enrich their educational experience. At Urmston Grammar, staff & sixth formers offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities. This includes theatre trips, Inter-school sports competitions, sports teams, music ensembles, community lectures, reading for pleasure, debating, snowboarding and rock climbing. The Languages Faculty offer film club and languages clubs where students can learn Mandarin, Italian or Spanish. There are also science clubs and computing gaming and coding clubs. Our gardening club is so successful that in 2015 the school team won first prize at the Tatton Flower Show!
We are often asked 'Do you have a club for 'X'?'. The answer is 'probably' - however if not, then students with a particular passion are simply encouraged to start one.
Sixth Form students run, manage and facilitate student-led societies, including Politics, Medical Ethics and Cafe Sci - the possibilities are simply endless.
This year our extra-curricular provision has been scaled back do to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we hope to be back up to running a full suite of extra-curricular opportunities soon. See below the timetable for the 2019/20 academic year as an example.
