medal success rounds off a fantastic netball residential weekend

`A very successful weekend for UGS Netball`: Miss Salisbury is proud to share some amazing news!

Our Year 7, 8 and 9 netball teams have spent the Bank Holiday weekend on the annual PGL Netball residential, accompanied by PE teacher Miss Salisbury, Mrs Chadwick and Miss Devenney Lees, and it has been as successful as it has been enriching and enjoyable for all involved, as Miss Salisbury shares in the report that follows:

The teams with Miss Devenney Lees (L), Miss Salisbury (centre) & Mrs Chadwick (R)

First the success: all the teams competed in a netball tournament against other schools from all over the country, and each team worked incredibly hard, digging deep to play a total of a minimum of 8 games over the weekend.

In a truly amazing achievement, our Year 9 team reached the finals, finishing as overall winners and Gold medallists. Huge, huge congratulations!

Further congratulations to our Year 8 team who reached the finals, and finished as Silver medallists.

And congratulations to the Year 7 team, who were semi-finalists, and finished the weekend as Bronze medallists.

But as well as the opportunity to compete in tournaments, the students were also able to participate in a great many adventurous activities, such as rifle shooting:

And scaling the heights with some abseiling:

There was also time for fun and some enjoyable r&r:

Overall, every student involved made great achievements during the residential, and it has been a very successful and memorable weekend for Urmston Grammar netball.

We were all incredibly proud, and felt privileged to watch the determination and resilience demonstrated by all the students over the past few days.

Well done everyone, and thank you for such an enjoyable and fun-filled weekend!

Truly fantastic news, with huge thanks to our awe-inspiring Team UGS netballers, to MIss Salisbury for sharing this great report and photographs, and to all the accompanying staff.

We can't wait to hear what's next!
