`genuinely brilliant` research presentations from year 12

Year 12 supercurricuar group deliver again!

Head of Year 12 Mr Neale was proud this evening to introduce the second instalment this week of supercurricular research presentations from our Year 12 cohort.

The supercurricular group have been working hard this year on researching academic topics about which they are passionate, and that they aspire to pursue in Higher education and professional pathways.

The first group of students presented in our Theatre on Tuesday, and this evening it was fantastic to experience the second instalment, with 11 superbly well-researched and confidently and articulately delivered presentations taking place, covering fields in a broad spectrum of areas within Science and the Social Sciences, Medicine, Economics, and Engineering.

Some of the students involved can be seen in action in our lead photograph, and the full list of presentations & presenters is as follows:

Introduction to Schrodinger's Equation & Quantum Mechanics (Max & Randolph)

The Chemistry & Physics behind Nuclear Development (Emily & Fiyin)

The Relationship between Motorised Vehicle Incidents & Traumatic Brain Injuries (Limar)

Recession (Crystal & Sophia)

Automation in the Aviation Industry (Rayan, Adam & Susan)

Exercise and the Obesity Crisis (Matthew)

Genetic Engineering (Precious)

Regenerative Medicine (Rose, Lesley & Sruti)

Electroconvulsive Therapy (Jasmine & Megan)

The Detrimental effect of Pacifiers (Leya)

What do we learn in the Womb/before being born? (Reonna, Angela & Meenakshi)

All were fascinating, insightful, intellectually stimulating, and entertaining, and it was a privilege to be able to listen, learn, and be inspired by the supercurricular group.

As Mr Neale observed when congratulating the students, all were "genuinely brilliant", and there was an impressive fluidity to the evening, with tangible links forming between the research areas that they are engaged in.

Really well done all, with huge thanks to our outstanding students, and to Mr Neale for organising and coordinating these enriching opportunities for them.
