volleyball success & launch of spring reading challenge

As we end a busy first week of the Summer Term!

Sixth Form Volleyball Team Success

We're firstly delighted to share news about our Sixth Form Volleyball team, pictured above in action,  who performed superbly on Wednesday evening: they won their semi-final, which means that they will go forward to compete in the National College Volleyball Finals on 2nd May.

Really well done all and best of luck in the Finals!

Spring into Reading Library House Challenge

The Library launched its latest House Challenge for this term: Spring into Reading, tasking students with participating in a reading refresh, and to accept the challenge to read as many new titles as possible from our Library and our ebook platform.

In the lead picture are some of our students choosing new books from the LRC, and pictured below after school yesterday is one of our current House Reading Champions, Asfer 7R, who popped in to choose some books as he makes a start on the new challenge, and he looks forward to retaining his top ranking this term!

We are also excited to await delivery of the brand new titles that we were able to purchase following the success of our recent World Book Day Book Fair.  Watch this space for updates on the progress of our Reading Challenge and on the arrival of our new books!

Year 12 Parents' and Carer's Evening

This took place yesterday evening and was an invaluable opportunity for constructive discussions on attainment and goals, as Head of Year 12 & Assistant Head of Sixth Form Mr Neale shares:

"It was a pleasure to meet with so many of our Y12 Parents & Carers last night. I hope conversations were productive, and allowed families to gain a further insight into their son/daughters' progress so far in Sixth Form".

Year 11 Success Assembly

Year 11 this week benefitted from a further Success Assembly as they approach the start of the GCSEs. The theme was an extension of advice on the `blurting` strategy, and on `Achieving Full Potential` in exams, by fully engaging with course specifications, past papers and revision resources. Year 11 were again reminded of how and where to access all the resources and help available to them via Student Sharepoint and SMHW; and recordings of all the Success Assemblies that have taken place are accessible via these platforms.

And finally ... we cannot resist sharing this picture of our front field basking in Thursday's rare moment of glorious spring sunshine! Hopefully, there is more to come!
