celebrating outstanding work in year 8 english

Year 8 impress the English department with their engagement with writer Plath's work

Year 8 have recently studied the complex and challenging work of writer Sylvia Plath, and particularly impressed Mr Connell with their engagement with the writer's complex short story `Superman and Paula Brown's New Snowsuit`.

This is a challenging, symbolic, multi-layered story, first published in the 1950s, that addresses coming-of-age themes, and is informed by the experiences of those who lived through World War II. It has in fact been studied for KS5 and undergraduate courses, which renders our Year 8 appraisal of it all the more impressive.

Mr Connell is proud to showcase the story-boards produced in response to the story by his Year 8 class, in particular that of Maria 8S, whose work is in our lead picture and below:

Really well done Year 8, keep up the fantastic work, with huge thanks to Mr Connell for sharing these inspired examples of our students`commitment to learning.
