this week in school

Busy first week back

Already lots has taken place in the 4 days since our return from the Half-Term break.

Year 11 and 13 have been involved in mock exams, that will continue into next week.

The printed edition of our fantastic school magazine Perspectives is hot off the press and as per emails home, it is available to purchase via ParentPay - please do not miss this opportunity to acquire and read the amazing journalistic and creative work of our talented students. It is a real showcase of their written skills, and we could not be more proud of their hard work, dedication, aspiration, and intellectual appraisal of contemporary and historical socio-cultural matters.

In our Performing Arts department, not only has Senior and Staff Choir relaunched, but the exciting new extracurricular programme and timetable was published, with lots for our students to get involved in, including: Drama, Theatre technician training, dance, and LAMDA sessions and classes.

Full details have been circulated to students and by email to parents and carers.

Hummingbird Project

This week, Year 7 have been taking part in the Hummingbird Project, an invaluable opportunity facilitated by MedEquip4Kids, in partnership with psychologists from the University of Bolton and the University of Chester, to address, support and raise awareness of the mental health well-being and issues of young adults, as their website explains:

Through our work with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, we’ve seen an escalating crisis first-hand and we recognise the need for preventative action. The initial study we commissioned in 2017 identified a local mental health epidemic. Some of the findings were deeply concerningApplying the concepts of Positive Psychology, we help to identify early warning signs. The Hummingbird Project gives young people coping techniques, resilience skills and a greater reliance on their own personal strengths. Together we’re reducing stigma and providing hope.
