excited to preview our next community lecture

Save the date for Wednesday 7th February!

Following on from last term's well-received community lectures, the first of which was delivered by visiting speaker and Oxbridge research scientist (and UGS alumni) Kate Hammond on `An Introduction to Mitophagy in Parkinson's`, and the second from Mr Connell on `An Overview of Ghosts in English Literature and Critical Theory`, we are delighted to announce the third in our series:

As you will see, it is a return to the scientific field, and the lecture will be delivered by our very own Miss Lowe on 'Energy: Past, Present and Future'. It will explore energy from the Big Bang to the Manhattan Project, the current climate crisis, and the mysteries of dark energy.

These inspirational lectures are an invaluable opportunity for students, parents and carers, not only from UGS, but from the wider community, to expand their knowledge base, to broaden their critical thinking, and to enrich their academic experience.

As Miss Hammond, organiser of our Lecture programme, explains:

This lecture will be best suited to students in KS4/5 who are interested in pursuing Chemistry or Physics, but the lecture will also cover areas of History and Geography.

As always, everyone is welcome to come along.

This is a fantastic way to add participation in super-curricular experiences to personal statements, and to experience what 'lecture style' teaching is like.

All students and any interested family members or friends are welcome to attend.

The lecture will be held in our Theatre on Wednesday 7th February from 6pm.

Hope to see you there!
