Christmas reading challenge winners & charity jumper day

Great way to end the term & start the festivities!

In a fantastic sign off to the term, our last day has been a seasonal demonstration of UGS Pride, Participation and Empathy from our fabulous students and staff.

First off, we're thrilled to announce the winners of Read for Christmas, our festive House Library Challenge: Alaina 7T and Dheethya 7M (pictured above).

Really well done both for reading the highest number of titles from our range of seasonal books in December, embracing traditional and classic Christmas tales, poetry, and stories in the spirit of the season of hope, goodwill, charity and love.

Also today, in a fitting finale, it has been lovely to see so many students supporting Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save the Children, and pictured below are just some of our Year 7s getting in the spirit this morning:

There was also a House competition to reward the most outstanding festive jumper style aficionados, and Miss Murray is pleased to announce that the winners were Alfie and Thomas (in addition to Rory not pictured), who delivered on many levels; not only on the knitwear front, but on going the extra mile with festive millinery and accessories, as you can see:

And finally, for today, last but not least, students and staff took part in end-of-term assemblies, with one for Sixth Form featuring a special performance of `A Christmas Carol`; and one for Years 7-11, supported by a charming piano rendition of Santa Claus is Coming to Town from Year 7 Leonidas, and readings from Mrs Wall and Year 13 Towi.

Wishing all in our wonderful wider school community the very best for Christmas and New Year, and we look forward to all that 2024 has to bring!
