year 13 achievement celebration

Year 13 end the term with a special Assembly celebrating all their hard work

Last night, the 2023 cohort, parents and carers, rejoined us in school for an evening to celebrate their fantastic A Level results, to catch up with staff and each other, and to receive their exam certificates. It was lovely to see them again and to hear about their ongoing journeys as undergraduates and degree apprentices, and about their new career pathways.

And after yesterday's Year 12 celebration, this morning it was the turn of Year 13 to be congratulated on all that they have achieved this term, and on their contribution to UGS life and culture.

Head of Year Mrs Mohamed and Head of Sixth Form Miss Lingwood, in organising today's event, asked Heads of Department and Form Tutors to nominate Year 13 students for outstanding academic performance, and for having shown the most improvement in their studies in their respective subject fields, starting with the Sciences:

Art, Business, Economics and Computer Science:

English Literature, English Language, French & German:

Maths, Geography & History:

Music, PE, Politics, Psychology & Sociology:

Also commended were the students who always deliver with smart Sixth Form attire, and were celebrated for consistently styling it out as the best-dressed!:

Last but not least, the year 13 students who have gone above and beyond to involve themselves in all aspects of whole school UGS life, and who actively support students in other year groups were also celebrated; for example, those who supported Year 12 in the Mock trial event at Manchester Crown Court, and the amazing Year 13 Librarians who work with younger students in our Reading Room, and at Year 7 Book Club.

Really well done all, and as Mrs Mohamed told the year group as she closed the Assembly, she is extremely proud of them all, and is looking forward to all the great things that are to come, and that they will achieve in the New Year and New Term.

With thanks to Year 13 for a great first term, and huge, huge thanks to Mrs Mohamed and Miss Lingwood for arranging today's event, and for all that they and associated staff do to support the students on this final leg of their UGS journey.
