full (fri)day of events

It might be the end of the week, but the participation & energy is still high in school!

No winding down for the weekend here: we started this morning with not one but two fantastic House end-of-term celebration assemblies, split over two sessions so that all of our year groups could join in.

It began with Years 7, 9, 11 and 13 (just half of which are pictured below):

It was then the turn of Years 8, 10 and 12 to celebrate all the great House events, competitions and achievements that have taken place over this Half-Term, and all the students who have done us proud and served their houses well by taking part in and winning House competitions.

As we have reported over the last 7 weeks, these have ranged from a Pumpkin carving competition, Pets with Homework Photo contest, charity Bake Offs, Inter House sports day, Library reading challenges, events and writing contests, house public speaking events, and charity fund-raisers and collections, such as this week's Mustard Tree gift appeal.

Individual and group house champions were recognised and celebrated, culminating in the grand finale announcement of the House triumphant for this term: Orme. Really well done!

Year 9 V+A Innovate Challenge Competition 2023

12 YR9 TEAMS COMPETE IN-HOUSE TO ENTER THE NATIONAL FINAL:

Throughout today, students from Year 9 have been working with Mr Barber and Mr Reid on the V&A National Schools Design Challenge, and they are pictured below just getting started. We look forward to hearing more about their designs, progress and results in due course!

PTA Ambassadors' Fund-Raising Christmas Message Service:

Pictured below are just some of our students participating in an initiative put together by our fabulous PTA ambassadors with the support of Mrs Wall to raise money for Save the Children. It will be held at break again on Monday, and students are asked to donate £2 in order to have a special Christmas message and small gift delivered to friends or staff.

Charity Dodgeball Tournament Round 2 at lunchtime in the Sports Hall:

The tournaments organised by Year 12 Fineness, and supported by Sixth Form and staff, continued today to raise funds for the invaluable work of the charity SOS. The final showdown is on Monday, and we know that all in school will get behind it!

Year 7 Pantomime Trip

Last but not least, this afternoon our Year 7s headed out on an end of term treat to the panto Cinderella at the Contact Theatre. Huge thanks to all the staff who have supported this special outing for our fantastic Year 7 cohort!

Still lots more to come next week - Sixth Form Reward celebrations, the Dodgeball showdown, A Level Presentation Evening, and fund-raising Christmas Jumper Day (Weds) to name but a few!
