house reading champions

Celebrating this Half-Term's House Reading Champions!

We're excited to celebrate the students who, this half term, have shown an amazing level of commitment to reading and literacy, and who have borrowed the highest number of titles from our library and ebook platform.

Pictured above L-R enjoying their moment are: (back) Aline 7R (Oak house), Kelvin 7S (Mersey), Thomas 8M (Mersey), Rico 7M (Oak) and Asfer 7R (Orme); front: Sankari 7R (Orme) & Dheethya 7M (Bradfield); and also not pictured: Medeea 7R (Bradfield).

The students were awarded prizes, certificates and Reading Champion blazer badges to proudly wear in recognition both of their reading achievements, and of their contribution to their respective Houses.

All have read a broad-ranging variety of titles from our Library and eplatform, from informative and subject-specialist non-fiction, to classics, books from our Urmston 100 recommended reading list (Asfer is ploughing through it), diverse titles, Manga (Rico's favourite!), and graphic novels (Kelvin is a huge fan!).

Aline, Dheethya and Medeea have already made a great start on our House Read for Christmas Challenge; and a huge shout out to Sankari, who is our ultimate e book champion, and has fully submerged herself in the new reading opportunities opened up by the digital platform.

Really well done all, keep reading, and we look forward to celebrating our next champions in the New Year!
