festive spirit in the air with events & seasonal reading challenge

Launch of Read for Christmas, build up to our Christmas Fair this Friday & Festival of Christmas next week

It's beginning to look a lot like that time of year in school:

Read for Christmas House Challenge

The Library House challenge: Read for Christmas is in full swing, with some of our students pictured browsing a selection of titles. The challenge is to read books themed for the season, such as traditional Christmas tales, and we have a range of contemporary and classic options, from A Christmas Carol and Little Women to compilations of festive short stories by writers such as Dickens, Tolkien, Conan Doyle, Gaskell, and Christian Anderson.

But we are also inviting students to read titles that embrace the spirit of the season in its broadest sense: hope, love, charity, peace and goodwill.

Christmas Fair this Friday 8th December & PTA Ambassador's Christmas Bake Off

We are really looking forward to the Christmas Fair this Friday and seeing the whole school community, students, staff, parents and carers come together.

And huge congratulations to Alexa who won the Christmas Fair poster competition with this fabulous design:

Students are being asked to bring in donations this Friday on non-uniform day, and our amazing new team of PTA ambassadors are also organising a Christmas Bake Off, with students and staff invited to bring in bakes and cakes to enter into the competition, which will be sold on Friday.

There is a £20 gift voucher up for grabs for the winning entry, though we can't promise any Hollywood handshakes!

Festival of Christmas

On Tuesday next week we will be treated to a gorgeously festive evening of song and music involving over 100 of our students. It is always a delight and a fabulous seasonal showcase of the talents of our students and staff. We can't wait!

Year 7 House Library Christmas Quiz

At lunchtime on Wednesday 13th, Year 7 will get the opportunity to take part in the Library's fun Christmas quiz, with a chance to earn house-points and win prizes. A sure way to boost their festive mood before they head off to the Panto on Friday 15th!
