year 12 electronics elective: seasonal finish

Year 12 Electronics course elective rounds off with a festive project

As our final visit of the term to the Wednesday afternoon Year 12 Electives programme, we dropped in on the Electronics course, led by Physics teacher Mr Leech, pictured (above right) with some of the students who have enjoyed the course this term.

The students have been soldering Christmas tree circuit boards with flashing lights as a fun finale to their learning over this term, and they have been practising their soldering skills in preparation for the session.

Some of the students who chose this option this term are A-Level Physics students, and many are studying Computer Science and/or Maths.

Several are keen to pursue a career in Engineering, so this course presents the perfect opportunity to compound and enrich their academic A Level subjects.

Joshua pictured below left chose the option as he intends to apply for a degree in Physics, so this course broadens his course of study in preparation for his next steps.

With thanks to Mr Leech and the students for giving us an insight into the Electronics elective, and it was great to see your circuit boards take shape!
