Remote Learning during the Covid-19 Lockdown

Urmston Grammar  - Remote Learning during the Covid-19 Lockdown

During the Covid-19 Lockdown students are being supported to structure their learning at home.

  • Students should follow the timetable for their year group and focus on the subject that is highlighted.
  • Students should be spending approximately 45-50 minutes during that time slot.

During a specified subject time slot, students should look at the resources that their teacher has added to Show My Homework and/or the shared drive and complete the work set.

Some of this may be work may be completed online, some might need students to use the internet for research, but some will also be work that students should do away from the computer screen. Some work will provide more interactive opportunities – from May 4th these interactive opportunities will increase

KS3 timetable for remote learning

For Years 7-9 there are 3 subject slots; students should be working for approximately 2.5 to 3 hours each day.

KS4 timetable for remote learning

For Year 10 students there are 6 subject slots; students should be working for approximately 4 to 5 hours each day.

All students need to spend approximately 45 minutes each day doing some form of exercise (the PE department are regularly suggesting ideas but remember to follow the government’s guidance for where you can go outside).

We also think that it is important that every student spends time reading each day; this could be fiction or non-fiction. Remember there are links to lots of books, journals and articles on the school website

Please remember Mrs Wall’s ‘Lockdown Challenge’

All students should take up the challenge to get more creative, start a new indoor hobby, pick up that musical instrument, practise their baking, start  to learn a new language, do some gardening or to start some charity work to support the local community. Please let your teachers and form tutors (& Mrs Wall) know what you are doing to challenge yourself during this lockdown period.

If you have any questions or concerns about the timetable or your work please email your subject teachers or your form tutor. Stay safe and well.
