As part of National Careers Week and National Apprenticeship Week , a group Year 10 students visited Wythenshawe Hospital to participate in the NHS “Ask The Professional” event. Here they got the chance to meet a range of NHS employees from pharmacists to mental health nurses, midwifes and dentists to name just a few.
Rowan Pepper said ” I really enjoyed today as I got to learn about all the different careers the NHS has to offer. I came in thinking the only options were being a doctor or nurse and left knowing about the wide range of jobs such as finance manager, health records clerk, orthoptist and many more. I also learnt about the GCSEs, A Levels and degrees or work experience I would need for each job to have the best chance of getting one which was useful as I didn’t know about it at all before. All the people I met were really nice and explained their jobs and how they got there in an interesting and informative way. Overall it was an amazing experience.”
