Another Year Another Peak

This year's physical challenge for Mr. Dickson

Mr. Dickson has climbed the Yorkshire Three Peaks (Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen–y–ghent) – all in one go (under 12 hours), but he has not yet climbed all of the more renowned Three Peaks of Great Britain.  Yes, he’s mounted Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Scotland; and - yes – he’s ascended Snowdon, the highest in Wales; but he is yet to make an assault on England’s highest, Scafell Pike.

That is all set to change this week, as Mr. Dickson intends to scale the Lake District’s - and the country’s – highest mountain.

And this is not just for the fun of it.  Each year, Mr. Dickson undergoes a physical challenge in order to raise money for two Christmas parties, hosted by our sixth formers and laid on respectively for children from Delamere Special School (in Flixton) and for local senior citizens.  And it is not just mountains that have provided a physical challenge for Mr. Dickson.  In addition to the ascents already mentioned, Mr. Dickson, in previous years, has also cycled the Trans-Pennine Way and biked all the way from Urmston to Silverdale in the Lake District, not to mention canoeing down the Bridgewater Canal.

In order to make his scramble up Scafell Pike all the more worthwhile, it would be great if those associated with Urmston Grammar would be willing to sponsor Mr. Dickson.  Just £1.00 from each of the families of Urmston Grammar School students would raise all the money needed to give the special needs pupils and the senior citizens of Urmston a memory to cherish this Christmas.

If you would like to sponsor Mr. Dickson for his efforts in climbing Scafell Pike, then please make a payment, through Parent Pay to ‘Mr. Dickson’s Christmas Parties Fund’.

Many thanks in anticipation of your kind donations.
