It wasn’t only snowstorms from Siberia which blew into school this week but our celebrations for World Book Day. We started with the hugely popular Golden Ticket Search in the Reading Room during Wednesday lunchtime when students competed to solve clues to find the elusive Golden Tickets. First to impressively swiftly track down a ticket to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice were a team headed up by Pharrell Leader Williams 7S, closely followed by Grace McGrath’s 7U team, with Nathaniel McMurray and Thomas Davies 8S coming in 3rd.
On Thursday we started with a special Reading Assembly and the launch of this year’s Readathon, where we hope to raise as much money as possible for the CLIC Sargent and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s charities.
Book Swap took place during Thursday’s lunchbreak – a big success again this year with lots of students taking home a new title to read. Students are also invited to enter the #Shelfie competition where to win they need to match the correct photo of a bookshelf to the teacher who owns it. See the ‘Shelfie’ news item for more details.
All in all a great week for celebrating reading at UG!
