Happy New Year!!! (3 weeks late, I know, but we’re back).

As with every year, this year has borne fruit that has sprouted its majestic presence in this world and it’s only three weeks in.

The biggest news story of the week is that Donald Trump, a man whose business-like personality has got him to the highest office in the United States of America, has become the 45th President of the United States.

Trump’s inauguration was as disappointing as it sounds.

While Former President (I can’t believe what I am actually writing) Barack Obama had the likes of people such as Beyoncé, Aretha Franklin, John Legend and U2 performing at his inauguration, President Trump had ‘celebrities’ that included 16 year-old Jackie Evancho (who entered American Idol when she was 10 years old), rock group 3 Doors Down and The Star Spangled Singers, who currently have 40 likes on Facebook.

Add to this the ‘allegations’ of Russia hacking the election so that Trump would win the Presidency and Russia allegedly having an incriminating tape of Trump and you have witnessed one of the most hotly anticipated and most controversial Presidential inaugurations ever.

To ‘spice’ things up (terrible pun, I know but worth it) Trump’s press secretary, Sean Spicer, has claimed that the crowds at Trump’s inauguration were the “largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period. Both in person and around the globe.” Former President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2009 drew in a crowd of approximately 2 million people who attended the event. Trump’s inauguration drew in crowds of approximately 800,000-900,000 people in the Capitol, without discounting those in the Capitol who were in attendance to protest against President Trump.

In short, welcome to 2017.
