Reporters from Urmston Grammar interview the world famous boxer and sports mentor.
How did you get into boxing?
‘At school around 15/16, I used to get into a lot of trouble and took up boxing as something to take my mind off school.’
Where are you now?
‘I’m currently living in Liverpool with my three kids and wife. I have recently retired from Boxing and now work for Sky Sports as a sports mentor’
I heard that you’ve competed in the Sydney Olympics- what was it like?
‘The Olympics – well. I feel so bad now that I thought this. It’s most people’s DREAM to go to the Olympics and compete out there but the thing was- I was miserable! Back at home, me and my wife weren’t getting on and she was having a child. I was so worried and I really didn’t want to be there. But once I was there, it was FANTASTIC! The atmosphere was phenomenal and the fact that when you sit down to have lunch in the athletes village, that all of the famous athletes that you see on TV are sat down next to you!! It was just AMAZING!!
