Introduction
Urmston Grammar is state maintained, independently run selective school. The Academy Governors and Urmston Grammar's Leadership Team run a highly successful 11-18 co-educational grammar school with an outstanding national and local reputation for academic excellence in a caring community. The school attracts and retains exceptional staff who possess a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise. As caring professionals, our commitment to the welfare and pastoral care of our students is aimed at allowing each of our students to flourish. The school grounds are secure and self contained, with mature trees complementing buildings that reflect both the tradition associated with Grammar School education and the vision for the future. Our children enjoy working in a respectful and mutually supportive atmosphere where self discipline is fundamental to our enjoyment of learning. We offer them a safe and secure environment with access to the very latest facilities including cloud access via UOS1 and campus wide WiFi.
OfSTED again described the school as "Outstanding" in the November 2008 inspection and we have also been identified as one of the Governments' "High Performing Specialist Colleges". We are a Science College with Languages specialism and we are a recognised national centre of excellence for Science. General information
The principle aim of our school is to develop the full potential of each pupil academically, artistically, emotionally, morally, physically and socially so that he/she is able to take his/her place in society as a mature, discerning and caring adult. The school seeks to provide extensive opportunities, enrichment and stimulation for the achievement of individual excellence; to prepare pupils for living in a complex, technological world; to help pupils to adapt to the demands of Higher Education and work; to encourage pupils in the belief that self-discipline is the best form of discipline and to develop in our pupils self-respect and a concern for others in the community.

Examination results
The quality of student performance means that our examination results have regularly enabled us to feature in the lists of most successful schools. Our performance is always in the top 5% nationally. We are also in the top 100 list of Grammar Schools. Using the Government's new accountability measure, the English Baccalaureate we appeared 55th in the list of state schools in England.
It is worth noting that Trafford LEA regularly appears at the top of the national league tables at GCSE level and at Advanced level. We are immensely proud of what our Local Authority schools offer as well as our collective success. Our students have an outstanding reputation in the community for their contributions to both caring in the community as well as for their enormous work with both local and international charities.
