COMMENTS OF STUDENTS WHO STAYED ON IN SEPTEMBER 2010
I came here because I have had good time during years 7-11. The teaching here is very good especially the Maths staff - who are superb. The atmosphere is very good and the extra-curricular support is very good.
S SMEETON
I enjoyed the experience of upper and lower school and wanted to stay on. The teaching is good, very helpful. There is a friendly atmosphere and students are always encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities.

Sixth Form is a great place to do your A levels as there is lots of support from teachers – whatever you need. Being a science student I have found there to be plenty of extra-activities I could do, such as going to lectures at the University of Manchester and a research day at Christie’s Hospital. Also, I love the social side of Sixth Form, another reason I came here was because of my friends.
A STANLEY
I chose to stay because Urmston Grammar helped me to achieve good GCSE results and it is a Science College. The science teachers are experienced and teach well, they all offer extra help after lessons and at lunch if needed. Revision classes are also helpful. I quickly got to know all newcomers to Sixth Form and it feels as though they’ve always been here.
N HEENEY
I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time at Urmston Grammar – time has passed by so quickly!

S HARRISON & R ISBISTER
Urmston Grammar was my choice because I wanted to study German and this has a Language specialism. I have enjoyed helping out in the German lessons. The teachers are good and there is a happy atmosphere in the Common Room.
S CARRUTHERS
I chose to stay here in the Sixth Form due to the politeness of the staff and pupils and the great amount of effort the staff put into all their subjects, 110% in every department even during the busy times of the year. The atmosphere is always buzzing, everyone is very friendly and eager to socialise, making it a great place to study. There’s always something to get involved with, extra languages, sports and many other societies and clubs. All-in-all, a great Sixth Form.

After failing my exams in Year 12 at Wellacre, I decided to join Urmston Grammar and re-sit Year 12. I have received great support throughout the year; my teachers gave me the confidence to achieve.

Urmston Grammar has a top reputation with both the community and universities. From day one, I found the teaching to be of excellent quality and the support I’ve received through mentoring has been invaluable. My favourite part of Urmston Grammar life is the close-knit atmosphere, and the overwhelming welcome I felt when I started Sixth Form last September. I was voted Deputy Head Boy by my peers and the staff and I haven’t looked back since.

I’ve been more than satisfied with the level of support the staff at Urmston Grammar provide for their students. Each of my subject teachers have spoken with me thoroughly about revision classes and extra work that will help me in areas I need to improve on most and I have never once ignored a friendly suggestion on how I could improve my grades for example.
W MOFFAT
Ex-Sale High School
There was a lot of extra support given in order for me to fit in as best I could, which really helped. I found I was settled in the first week and the internal students really welcomed me, which was probably the most important thing for my transition.
S BARTON HALLAM
Ex-Flixton Girls High School
Since the first day of Year 12 I have felt as if I had been supported not only by the teachers as well as my peers. In particular, English, where I struggled originally but due to the help of Mr Parker and Mr Copestake I was able to achieve a grade B. I am now aiming to improve to an A grade by re-doing my coursework from last year. As well as educationally I have been very pleased socially at Urmston Grammar and the Common Room really is something to look forward to.
J OJOFEITIMI
Ex-Wellacre Technology College
I’ve felt that the school has really helped me through the process of applying to university. I felt the mock interviews and lectures on writing Personal Statements have been really useful. Both my Form Tutor and subject teachers have given me advice and help whilst writing my statement, as well as support and guidance to make sure I achieve the grades I need.
