Welcome to those of you considering applying from other schools.

For many years now, Urmston Grammar has been welcoming students from all over the Trafford, Greater Manchester and Cheshire area. Our results have helped Trafford to become the top LEA in the country when it comes to A' level study and our facilities give you that sense of self value and worth that is reassuring from the very start.

Applying too couldnt be easier, simply fill in the online form by following the image link on the left. (It's also a menu option if you forget where you saw it). You should only submit this form when you have really thought long and hard about which A' level subject choices you wish to pursue. We can advise and suppport that process too, so telephone if you need a chat.

After you have completed your GCSEs we will invite you in to school for a pre-September treat, a sort of induction session, sounds worrying, but it isn't.

  • You will be shown the fitness suite, you might even be instructed in the use of the equipment so that from day one in September, you will be able to use it at any time you want; membership is free to UGS students... although not compulsory
  • Via our IT facilities, your email account and IT passwords will be set up so that you can email each other, us, and access your email and our teaching materials. You can also use our software from school, home or anywhere in the world using our cloud based UOS1. The latest Microsoft office suite too is online for your use from anywhere, free WiFi is everywhere on site and on our campus grounds and unlimited cloud storage space is available to you, again via UOS1 and the via the web, anywhere in the world - just use our home page login.
  • Yes, we will provide a free lunch on induction day for you, just don't diet for a month before hand anticipating a 7 course banquet, we're promoting healthy eating; fit bodies and fit minds!
  • You will be given a guided tour of the school by some of our Sixth from so that you can actually see Urmston Grammar in sunshine rather than that dreary day in January when you last saw us. The Sixth Formers will also be around to answer questions - such as how much work is involved in achieving your AS target grades.
  • Finally, we know that some of you may have reservations about coming here in September, bring your questions and any worries you may have, talk to us, and if you have a friend who is undecided and may also be interested in joining you here in September, bring them along. Just let us know who they are when you send your reply slip to the letter of invitation that is coming to you shortly after GCSEs finish.

We enjoy our School; our Science College, and we try to make the two year experience enriching, pleasurable and even fun at times. We are also fully aware of just how much staff support you will need to get the grades and to succeed during this period. That is our strength; we won't let you drift, we are all in this together.

We look forward to seeing you
